Just another digital photoshop sketch. The sketch was first drawn when I saw the manikin lying on its side. This is still messy, the lines and details need to be cleaned up. Made this into Korra from Legend of Korra. The show was abysmal and I never watched the entire series, but I like the character's confidence and boldness.

Until next time! Sometime next month. Happy drawing!

March 23: Opening Reception 5-8PM
The exhibition runs March 23rd-April 13th.

One of my favorite galleries is the Copper Moon Gallery here in Taos, NM.

A few years back I went to one of their art show receptions.
I was throughly impressed and amazed with the work there.
I'll admit I took one of each available free postcard of the exhibit for my wall collection.

A few months ago Greg Moon came into the shop to get work for a poster done.
I recognized the art style and worked on resizing a reference photo.
I'm pretty shy at times and I was not going to say anything besides normal cashier banter. I have my days when I'm bolder and more talkative...Well my boss came in from the back and remembered what I said about his exhibit and said, "Krisana is an artist and went to your art exhibit. She really liked it."
I was forced to have social interaction. I was embarrassed to be thrown under the bus, but it paid off. We had a lovely conversation about art and the gallery co-owner is actually one of my former teachers at the local college.

Even though the opening reception is this upcoming Saturday I was surprised not to see much information about the show.

Well I hope to see y'all there!

A few ago I completed a Copic marker rendering. I did not like the final!
So I  reinked and rendered it again and finished it early last week.
The results are way better and took me half the time to complete the 2nd rendered drawing.

One thing I hated with art school is that they would make you redraw things multiple times. I used to get so annoyed with that. But like writing class the first draft isn't always the best.
Now I embrace this concept of redrawing. If I can redraw something and make it better and spend half the initial time I spent to redo it and make it better then why not just do it?
Real world application of leveling up in a game.

There are times when it is better to abandon a drawing that to redraw it.

Finally after about a year I figured out how to use my Craftwell ebrush airbrush system compressor!
It was fun and a delight to use!

Tools Used: Copic Markers, Airbrush, Copic Multiliner, White Gel Pen, Non-Photo Blue
Mechanical Pencil Lead, Photoshop CS6

The 2nd version is way better than this other one!

Years ago I sketched this thumbnail.

Digital sketches. Which I printed and traced the elements separately.

Printed out the digital sketches on 11x17 paper.
Traced and redrew certain elements with non-photo blue mechanical pencil lead.
I tend to draw light it was a pain to scan this.

After scanning the blue sketch I adjusted the colors to be darker and then printed it out again and inked the drawing on another paper. When I redid the rendering I re-inked because I didn't like the way it turned out the first time.

Used bristol paper to protect the edges because I couldn't find
my swivel blade for frisket film,

I've been coloring a lot of line art that has been sitting around the last few weeks.
It's been fun experimenting with different techniques. With skin tones I try not to
make everything look the same. Ari the top one was the most difficult to do because
he has severely pale skin and the bright colors I added made him look like a clown.
I generally don't use the colorless blender but It came in handy.

In the end I couldn't bring myself to complete the artwork for the art show.
Those pieces I wanted to show Gramps 4 days before he died, I never showed him those ones because he sounded sick. Unfortunately you can't plan or know how you will react to grief. I couldn't look at the work I was doing with the same excitement and vigor.

I don't feel discouraged or been beating myself up for not completing these works. It has been quite the opposite, now that some time has passed. Now I now feel more encouraged to complete some of these pieces for another show at this same gallery. ^___^  I have another chance.

As someone told me live to draw another day.

I found embarrassing old art! I found something I did when I was 16... about 11 years ago.
At that point I used Tombow markers for about a year and only just recently discovered that
Tombow markers were water based meaning you can add water or dip them in water for watercolorish effects. And I had one or two prismacolor marker skin tones...as you can see.
